On March 23, 1987 Philippe Thomas delivered a lecture entitled Philippe Thomas décline son identité. Une pièce à conviction en un acte et trois tableaux at Centre Pompidou, Paris. The lecture, which focused on modernism, was in fact a play. At the end, the audience was given a detailed script of what they had just witnessed in the form of a book signed by Daniel Bosser and published by Galerie Claire Burrus and Editions Yellow Now. Thomas gave the lecture a second time, exactly a year later, in one of the exhibition spaces of the Museum of Grenoble. Both lectures were filmed. This is the first time the Grenoble version of the piece is shown with English subtitles.
